PlayStation managed to subvert expectations by announcing a State of Play instead of a Showcase. Regardless, fans are grateful that something is coming rather than nothing and hope to see news about specific projects that have been on the wishlist for too long.
It may seem like a longshot but the fans are optimistic for news about a certain Soulsborne game that has been ignored for far too long and a sequel to one of the platform’s best original franchises. All bets are off and speculations began circulating social media before the said event.

It wasn’t long ago when leaks of the lineup of games being revealed from an alleged Showcase started being tossed around and it was said to be Sony’s attempt to steal the attention from competitors. Regardless, the fans shared their dream reveals which involved news related to Bloodborne that isn’t about merchandise.

The fans have been begging for a remaster or a PC port but that could change knowing that the newest co-CEO of the company is a huge fan of the game and could potentially be the savior of the franchise.

However, some fans have become jaded and lost all hope. The gaming community is also hoping for an update regarding the unannounced sequel of Sucker Punch Production’s Ghost of Tsushima. The original version was released on the PS4 and was recently ported to PC with new features like a shared trophy set.

There is a strong likelihood given that the studio has been working on something for quite some time and job listings hinted that it could potentially be a sequel of sorts.
The game was well-received and is still talked about to this day regarding how it lost the Game of the Year award to a fellow Sony first-party title four years ago. Perhaps the developers are cooking up a storm that could improve the original game in ways unimaginable for the current generation.
State of Play Doesn’t Have the Same Ring as PlayStation Showcase

Game development can be tricky and expensive and it would be wise for the company to hold onto its major players for the future but it wouldn’t hurt to announce them.
The gaming community demands these projects for a reason and it is understandable to see them get so worked up for something that may not exist. It is best to exercise patience and manage expectations to avoid disappointment.
Sony is aware of the hype and could be waiting for the right moment to share to the world what first-party developers are working on and not spoil the surprise. The company excels in generating hype and has done so in the past.
