Crash Bandicoot developer Toys for Bob has changed its website in a rather mysterious way. Now, it only displays a bright purple tiki mask on a black background. This cryptic change has left gamers theorizing about what the developer might be teasing.
Given the connection of the tiki mask with the Crash Bandicoot games, many speculate that the team may be hinting at a new installment in the long-running series. The purple color, however, might refer to yet another character the studio is known for.

Upon opening Toys for Bob’s official website, users are no longer greeted by the developer’s usual layout. Instead, a purple tiki mask shines brightly in the center of an otherwise black screen.
The tropical design rings a bell for anyone familiar with the team’s work, as the tiki mask plays a prominent role in the Crash Bandicoot games. This suggests the rather cryptic change might be hinting at an upcoming installment in the series.
However, one aspect of the logo has undergone a significant change, which might suggest it’s not just the jolly marsupial the studio is referring to. The purple color hints at another beloved character Toys for Bob is known for: Spyro the Dragon.
Toys for Bob has been behind the 2018 Spyro Reignited Trilogy, consisting of remakes of the original games. It has long been rumored that a new Spyro game might be in the works.
Xbox Will Reportedly Fund Toys for Bob’s Next Project
Earlier this year, Toys for Bob announced its separation from Activision Blizzard, mere months after the acquisition by Microsoft. At the time, the studio revealed the development of its next new game was “in the early days,” with any announcements still “ways away.”
Shortly after, it was reported that the team had reached an agreement with Xbox, stating that the console maker would fund the team’s first game after going independent. Since Microsoft still owns the Spyro and Crash Bandicoot series, this partnership could allow Toys for Bob to create a game featuring the beloved characters.
The “ways away” might just be imminent, with the cryptic logo appearing on the studio’s website. With the tiki mask from Crash Bandicoot and Spyro‘s characteristic purple color, the teased game might also be a combination. After all, rumors have suggested a racing game featuring both may be in the works.
It is important to note that this is just speculation, as nothing has been officially announced yet. However, if the website change hints at a new game, it is likely players will hear about it sooner rather than later, maybe even at the Xbox Games Showcase on June 9.
