Emily Blunt starred in the science fiction action movie, Edge of Tomorrow, with Tom Cruise. Written by Christopher McQuarrie and directed by Doug Liman, the movie has gradually turned out to be one of the most sought-after sci-fi movies of recent times.

Set in the future and somewhat based on the Japanese novel All You Need is Kill, the movie deals with aliens and time loops. Made against a budget of $178 million, it went on to gross $370 million worldwide (via Box Office Mojo). The movie currently has a rating of 90% on Rotten Tomatoes, incredible numbers for a movie that did not gross as much at the box office.

Yet fans have been wanting a sequel for a long, long time. In a recent interview with Collider, Blunt stated that she would love to have the sequel to her Tom Cruise-starrer movie someday soon. Despite the announcement of a sequel with a script ready and several other promising updates (see Collider), things have been silent for a long time.

While Blunt hopes that the movie will be made soon, the Oppenheimer star also hopes there will be a bit more R&D on the suits (which do seem to be a hassle to get into, let alone act), the next time she puts them on.

Emily Blunt will be next seen with Ken aka Ryan Gosling in their upcoming movie, The Fall Guy. And while promoting their movie in an interview with Collider and talking about which of their movie’s sequels they would love to get, Blunt exclaimed that she and Russell Crowe in a sequel to The Nice Guys would be her dream.

Set in the 1970s, The Nice Guys stars Gosling and Crowe as a private eye and an enforcer and end up working together to solve the case of a missing girl and investigate the death of a p*rn star in Los Angeles. All in all, it is an epic ride that gets funnier, even more sillier, and a bit complex as it goes on.

A buddy action comedy movie, The Nice Guys was well received by critics and fans, who called it endearing, silly, and funny. While Gosling joked that Angry Birds destroying them led to The Nice Guys 2 not being made, Blunt seemed all too ready to star in the film.

While we don’t know for sure whether Edge of Tomorrow 2 will ever get made or if we will ever get to see Gosling & Crowe in action back again, Blunt and Gosling’s The Fall Guy will hit theatres on May 3, 2024.
