Helldivers 2 has been making headlines for the right reasons, but that doesn’t stop Arrowhead Game Studios CEO, Johan Pilestedt, from engaging in banter with fans over their demands. One of the main differences with Arrowhead is that they actively engage with their fans and hear out their demands and requests.

But not all demands can be met. And Johan Pilestedt recently roasted fans for asking for a grenade indicator like a lot of other FPS shooters provide.

However, there is no chance of that happening, as Pilestedt shot down those demands with a humorous roast.

Arrowhead CEO Johan Pilestedt has been regularly interacting with fans of Helldivers 2. However, he doesn’t cede fan requests at all times, as can be seen in a status that he posted on X on March 27, 2024.

When one fan asked for a grenade indicator while the item was equipped, Pilestedt had a hilarious response. Fans took to the comments to appreciate the humor and slide in some of their own. One fan said, “And the pin is between your teeth“.

Another fan seemed to have found out why Johan Pilestedt is against a grenade indicator in Helldivers 2. He said, “You just want us to have more battlefield mishaps don’t you“. But light-heartedness aside, Helldivers 2 devs are facing an uphill battle against cheaters and modders who are plaguing the official servers currently.

But a section of fans is likely to be miffed at the lack of a grenade indicator as it is a mainstay in a number of other franchises like Call of Duty and Counter-Strike.

Johan Pilestedt had reposted a post from a fan who had requested Steam to include a Community Notes feature for fans and gamers to interact freely with each other to which Pilestedt threw in his backing. However, fans took the opportunity to bring up a number of issues and requests and he answered them to the best of his abilities.

When one fan brought up the issue about comms and responsiveness, he thanked the fan for bringing it up and promised that the devs would look into it pronto. Johan Pilestedt had recently reacted to a fan of his who had a flattering, albeit a bit creepy, show of support for him. Fans have now understood that he is someone who takes note of bugs and issues and they started bombarding the comment section of the post with a number of bugs and issues.

While he did not personally reply to all of them, given the proactive nature of the team at Arrowhead Game Studios, it should only be a matter of time before these issues are fixed. Till then, fans will have to spread managed democracy despite the issues.

What do you think of Johan Pilestedt’s comments about a grenade indicator? Do you think it would have been a useful addition? Or is it okay the way it is currently? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.

I travel. I game. I write. In no strict order.

The single biggest lie told all around is, "It isn't that simple." It is simple, everything is. And that is what I emulate in my writing. No unnecessary jargons and no flamboyant flourish. Just what's needed to get your imagination going. After all mind has no limit, unlike the written word.
