While Depp made it clear he wouldn’t return to the franchise no matter what, it occurred to fans at one point in time that Disney actually regretted its decisions and wanted him back. According to recent scoops by industry insider Daniel Richtman (@DanielRPK | X), the House of Mouse is reportedly considering having the Captain Jack Sparrow portrayer reprise his beloved role for Pirates of the Caribbean 6, but only in a supporting role (via @HollywoodHandle).

Instead, this upcoming addition to the Pirates of the Caribbean film series will reportedly be woman-led, with @RPK_NEWS1 on X previously reporting that The Bear actress Ayo Edebiri was the one notably being eyed to lead the saga (via @Hollywood Handle).
The upcoming female-led ‘PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN’ movie is still in the works at Disney.
Ayo Edebiri is being eyed to star as a character named Anne. They want a younger cast of pirates looking for a hidden treasure.

This news has especially come as a shock to those fans who were really looking forward to seeing Depp return as the cunning yet fan-favorite pirate and lead the saga once again, just like he did back in the old golden days.
Moreover, it is only true that it was The Tourist star who made sure to keep fans mesmerized with the Pirates of the Caribbean saga throughout the five movies in the film series. Thus, seeing him return but in a supporting role would not be the most ideal situation.
Plus, these reports have even those fans who wanted Johnny Depp to reprise his iconic role no matter what, supporting the actor on his decision to not return.
Fans Totally Support Johnny Depp Not Returning Despite Wanting Him Back
Since it was unarguably Johnny Depp who launched the Pirates of the Caribbean saga to extraordinary heights, Disney firing him from the franchise over his messy divorce drama from former wife Amber Heard was nothing short of an incredulous mistake by the Mouse House.
This led to the Edwards Scissorhands actor announcing publicly that he would not return to the franchise even if Disney offered him ‘$300M and a million alpacas’. Nonetheless, fans still held high hopes that the House of Mouse would set things right and bring him back.

For what it’s worth, if all these reports are indeed true and Disney is actually ruining the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise by continuing without Johnny Depp‘s Captain Jack Sparrow, then the saga spells nothing short of ‘D-O-O-M’ for its future.
