Helldivers 2’s world never sits dormant; the moment fans think they have nothing left to worry about, they have another thing coming. A while ago, they pretty effectively did away with a massive threat to humanity by defeating automatons. Then, they decided to move on with the galactic war to deal with the terminids.

But this is a live service game, its nature is such that problems here are like those sitcoms that never end. Players would always have something to deal with, which is not a bad thing until they keep getting exciting new content. Even though they are always ready and eager for something new, they were not ready for what this game brought upon them recently.

Helldivers 2 players experience the explosive return of automatons

A while ago, the Helldivers 2 community was celebrating the eradication of an enemy faction. Yes, they had cleared automatons from the universe, and they were moving on to their next target. The morale was very high all over.

They were so cool with the situation that they were discussing new weapons. Talks of melee weapons had started, with some even asking developers for those fancy chainsaw guns from the Gears of War series. No confirmation was given on that, but fans were hit by a huge shocker.

The automatons are back, and they are back with full force. They are now facing a new kind of enemy called Factory Striders. These are towering, powerful enemies that resemble All Terrain Armored Transport from the Star Wars franchise.

Crossovers in Helldivers 2 would make the game a strong contender for GOTY.

These are, however, more dangerous than those pop cultural icons. As they have the ability to produce smaller combat bots that can make a player’s life a living hell. Over that, destroying them is as hard as it can be, all thanks to their being heavily armored. Even Helldivers 2 developers are in shock at this comeback.

“Factory Striders have made a resurgence on the Automaton front. These imposing, massive support dreadnoughts now threaten freedom and democracy throughout the galactic rim.”

The fact that these robots can produce more bots to fight players makes them pretty dangerous on multiple fronts. If players fall short of ammunition while fighting them, it would be pretty easy to get overwhelmed by enemies.

One must know that this is not the first time these enemies are seen in this game; previously, they were faced by players who used to play on higher difficulties. Now the factory striders have become a common occurrence, suggesting that things will get even worse from here on.

This has now reminded players of the time when they were warned by the developers that the current Automaton army was basically a vanguard. For those unaware, the vanguard is basically the leading edge of an army. They are used to penetrate the enemy forces and get the best soldiers in the heart of the battle.

Would Super Earth ever get rid of automatons?

A still from Helldivers 2

With the return of killer robots, one cannot help but wonder if this struggle will ever end. Players fought relentlessly, completing missions and bringing democracy to several planets. It’s like all of that was for naught.

Maybe automatons would keep coming back until the time players keep dying? The theory that suggested the fact that these robots have human minds running inside of them was recently made more plausible by a disturbing discovery. Whatever might transpire, players would keep fighting, as that’s what Helldivers of Super Earth are destined to do.
