Hidetaka Miyazaki is a renowned director responsible for curating masterpieces such as Elden Ring, the Dark Souls series, Bloodborne, and many more. Millions of fans in the gaming community await the release of his new games, and the upcoming Shadow of the Erdtree extension is proof of the same.
Miyazaki is also the president of FromSoftware, the studio under which the games are produced. He rose to the position nearly a decade ago in 2014 and shared his experience via The Guardian, disclosing an intriguing fact about the enemy bosses in his games.
Hidetaka Miyazaki Reveals The True Inspiration Behind Some Of The Bosses In His Games
Enemies in all the games that have been produced by FromSoftware are all deliberately made to capture the user’s attention with the help of their unique character design. Many of these enemies are also on purpose made annoying, in order to give players a sense of achievement when they are finally able to defeat them after many tries.
Revealing another interesting fact about the enemies in his games, Hidetaka Miyazaki revealed-
“I’ve been to places I wouldn’t have visited before, I get to see different things, which is important. It gives me new experiences to draw from. Now I’m president, I get to meet a lot of other company presidents. They’re such weird people. I’m fascinated by them. I use some of them as enemy characters in our games.”
The renowned director essentially shared his experience of becoming the president of FromSoftware and exactly what advantages it brought with itself. He talked about how the new position allowed him to meet other similar people in the same positions but found them to be weird, so he made bosses in his game inspired by these people.
It is mostly the brilliance of the renowned director that the players get to witness when it comes to enjoying games by FromSoftware. However, the latest Elden Ring title which was released in 2022 was a combined effort of none other than the creator of the Game of Thrones book series, George RR Martin, along with Miyazaki.
Hidetaka Miyazaki Reveals The Greatest Contribution By George RR Martin In Creating Elden Ring
The president of FromSoftware has revealed how Martin introduced a new element to his games that was never seen before. This particular addition went perfectly with the studio’s venture into the proper open-world genre and hence, played a part in its success.
What we are talking about is the addition of Heroic characters in the storyline, which Hidetaka Miyazaki disclosed was an idea that the famous author introduced to the game. It was a concept that was lacking in the previous games he created, and Martin being the writer for the backstory of Elden Ring, contributed to the addition of these characters in the storyline.
Heroic Characters are also what we believe will be a great addition to the upcoming Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, as Hidetaka Miyazaki has a habit of perfecting his favorite elements from the games and adding them once again in the coming extension.
