Henry Cavill isn’t fond of s*x scenes. He feels that it’s often better for TV shows or movies to skip showing them because viewers’ imaginations are strong enough to fill in the gaps.
Luckily for him, he didn’t have any s*x scenes in Vaughn’s Argylle, which is rated PG-13. The action movie stars the DC actor as the main spy, who is the lead character in a famous book series written by a secretive author played by Bryce Dallas Howard.
Henry Cavill Detests S*x Scenes in Films
Henry Cavill said in an interview on the Happy Sad Confused podcast with his Argylle director, Matthew Vaughn, that sometimes s*x scenes can make movies better, but most of the time, it’s better to let people imagine things.
He thinks just showing naked bodies moving around doesn’t add much to the story after the surprise of seeing nudity wears off. The Man of Steel star explained his perspective in more detail, saying:
“I don’t understand them – I’m not a fan. There are circumstances where a s*x scene actually is beneficial to a movie, rather than just the audience, but I think sometimes they’re overused these days. It’s when you have a sense where you’re going, ‘Is this really necessary or is it just people with less clothing on?’” he continued. “And that’s when you start to get more uncomfortable and you’re thinking, ‘There’s not a performance here. There’s not a piece which is going to carry through to the rest of the movie’.”
This came after he experienced a very embarrassing moment—he got an erection at an inopportune time, while filming a s*x scene.
Henry Cavill Opens Up About Awkward Filming Experience
On the cover of Men’s Fitness, Henry Cavill admitted he had to apologize for getting aroused while filming a s*x scene for The Tudors. He admitted to the magazine:
“It’s only happened to me once, and it was very embarrassing. A girl had to be on top of me, she had spectacular bre*sts, and I hadn’t rearranged my—stuff into a harmless position. She’s basically rubbing herself all over me and, um, it got a bit hard.”
The 40-year-old said he had to apologize a lot afterward. He also said it’s not right for someone to get aroused during a professional acting job. The Superman actor made it clear that this kind of behavior isn’t okay.
As viewers, we only see the end result, but Cavill, explained how uncomfortable it is to film intimate scenes with many people in the room watching.
The St Helier native added that people usually think s*x scenes are about showing your body to everyone, but in reality, it’s really uncomfortable being naked in a room full of people. He emphasized that it’s not s*xy at all.
