The BAFTA Game Awards are a celebration of talent and contributions to the entertainment industry, and voice actors like Yuri Lowenthal and Neil Newbon are soaking up the rare occasion. The gaming community naturally assumes that there is a secret rivalry between the two yet the opposite is shown in public.

Both actors were also in the running for Geoff Keighley’s The Game Awards last year for best performer and while Neil took home the trophy, Yuri was still a winner in the hearts and eyes of fans.

During the red carpet, GamingBible was able to capture a wholesome interaction between the Spider-Man and Astorian voice actors. It is truly a magnificent sight to see two powerhouses of voice acting acknowledge each other’s talent and support one another.

Neil Newbon won Best Performance during The Game Awards 2023 and while the success of Baldur’s Gate 3 is impressive, Larian Studios opted not to do any DLCs or sequels of any kind. The decision was a surprise to the gaming community but the developers knew better and thought it would be the best for the franchise. Neil’s work could open more doors of opportunity down the road.

On the other hand, Yuri Lowenthal has a great track record with his iconic performances as Peter Parker in PlayStation’s Marvel’s Spider-Man series developed by Insomniac Games and even branched out to minor voice lines in Helldivers 2 that immediately caught the attention of the players.

Game Recognizes Game: The BAFTA Was A Perfect Reunion For Astorian And Spider-Man

Neil Newbon stars as Astorian in Larian Studios' Baldur's Gate 3 and has won several awards from various organizations, like The Game Awards and the BAFTA's.

Being a voice actor isn’t always cut out to be like everyone claims, especially with the risk of getting replaced at the last minute without even knowing. Lowenthal was meant to reprise his role as the Prince in Ubisoft’s Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake; however, it seems like the actor was ousted, and the company refused to comment about it.

Voice actors deserve more recognition, and to see these two talented men who starred in iconic roles like Spider-Man and Astorian sends out a positive message to the gaming industry that there is no need for rivalry or competition, but both can bloom and shine, respectively, without throwing shade on the other.

The BAFTA was a perfect opportunity to showcase the camaraderie and friendships of the entertainment industry and to see Lowenthal not holding a grudge against Newbon for winning last year’s best performance is a show of class.

Larian Studios and Insomniac Games were lucky to perfectly cast Astorian and Spider-Man, and the positive feedback and reception of the fans are evidence of it. Hopefully, both actors can land more roles, receive the recognition they deserve, and perhaps work on a project together.
