According to Daily Mail, despite online backlash about the scene, Arjona stated that Jenna Ortega was actively involved in deciding what she was comfortable filming.

“There were times on that set where I even became almost unprofessional in a sense where I just started changing lines.”

Her comments caused some to call Ortega, “entitled.” But she later doubled down in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, stating:

“When I went into ‘Wednesday,’ I really put my foot down and made it clear that everything that I had to say mattered and was heard.”

Between the Miller’s Girl intimacy scene outrage and the “unprofessional” comments, Ortega is no stranger to online scandals lately. It seems the young actress will continue facing criticism as her star power grows.

“There was many, many people throughout this process, engaging with [Jenna] to make sure that it was consistent with what she was comfortable with, and she was very determined and very sure of what she wanted to do. Part of my job too is supporting her decisions. I adapt to whatever is the comfort level of my actors, especially on a production like this where there is a large age gap between the actors.”

So, while the intimate scene between 52-year-old Martin Freeman and 21-year-old Ortega has been deemed “gross” by many viewers, Ortega seemingly consented to filming it.
