After her disappointing feat in Sony’s Madame Web, Dakota Johnson has no plans to slow down. The Fifty Shades of Grey star will next be seen along with Sean Penn in the Indie feature titled Daddio. Being described as a character study, Johnson plays a passenger princess called Girlie, while Penn plays her cab driver, Clark.

The movie features Girlie’s ride from the John F. Kennedy Airport in New York City to Hell’s Kitchen. While on their way, the two form a sort of emotional connection, with Girlie being determined to understand Clark’s real self. Written and directed by Christy Hall, the movie first debuted at the Telluride Film Festival last year and will now be released in theatres.

Executive producer Ro Donnelly stated to IndieWire, that Girlie is a pretty emotionally reflective role, who holds her power.

“Because she is our generation of women who are still approaching these men in a nonjudgmental way because it’s fascinating. We’re not threatened by it. And that reveals her power, the fact that she holds her own. She really is reflective of all the women who made this movie, she’s our girl.”

As the trailer for the movie debuted, fans still seemed to hold grudges against Johnson over her previous superhero film and reacted pretty negatively towards the Sean Penn starrer, Daddio.

Despite the negative criticism, Dakota Johnson is moving fiercely ahead in her career. Yet it seems, no matter what the actress does, fans are still finding a way to criticize her over one thing or the other. As the trailer debuted on YouTube, several users went on to criticize the yet-to-be-release film.

While some compared it to the Tom Cruise starter film Collateral by stating it is like the film Collateral, but with a heart (@ForgottenFlicks), others stated that the movie is 50 shades of Madame Web Dak0ta (@zv3456u-). Others went on to bring back Penn giving his Oscar to the President of Ukraine (@zv3456u-), while some others looked hopeful for the Indie feature.

As the movie gears up for release, fans and critics will surely be eagerly waiting for how the movie plays out. Whether Johnson and Penn’s performance will be convincing or not, or whether the movie will meet the same fate as Johnson’s last, only time can tell.
