Millie Bobby Brown debuted in the Duffer brothers-created hit Netflix show Stranger Things when she was just 12 years old playing one of the primary characters, Eleven. Since its first airing on 15 July 2016, the show has successfully crossed four seasons with another season on the line.
Season 5 of Stranger Things also concludes the fan-favorite show and Brown revealed her experience of filming the final season with heavy heart. Currently, Brown is promoting her upcoming Juan Carlos Fresnadillo-directed Netflix fantasy adventure Damsel and the actor recalled her sadness about departing from the Duffer brothers show during her promotional tour of the movie.
Millie Bobby Brown Was Sad While Filming Stranger Things Season 5
Stranger Things is heading towards its final season. While fans are mourning the end of the show, Millie Bobby Brown revealed that she was devastated filming the 5th season of the Netflix series. The actor also revealed that her co-stars are also equally saddened by the end of the show. Speaking with The Today Show’s Hoda Kotb, Brown revealed what she felt on set.
“We’re filming right now. It is our last season, so we’re really excited to be back together again for one last hoorah. But it does feel sad. Every day we go on to set, we’re like, it is the last second day, the last third day. But we’re definitely embracing it all. It is nice to be back with everyone.”
The peroration of Stranger Things has, however, worked in Brown’s favor as she previously wanted out of the show to explore different projects, per CBR. However, almost eight years of being part of a project that has an astounding fanbase is bound to make anyone sad about leaving, Brown is no exception.
Millie Bobby Brown Wanted Departure From Stranger Things
The popular Netflix sci-fi horror series has established Brown as an actor while forging her prowess for the craft for her cinematic journey in Hollywood. The actor appeared in several movies including the Enola Holmes franchise, Godzilla vs. Kong, and is set to appear in two upcoming Netflix movies, Damsel and The Electric State after gaining global popularity playing Eleven in Stranger Things.
However, the actor was looking for a way out of the show as the 20-year-old was looking to begin a new phase of her career beyond Stranger Things, as she candidly revealed while speaking with WWD.
“I think I’m ready. It’s been such a huge factor in part of my life, but it’s like graduating high school, it’s like senior year. You’re ready to go and blossom and flourish and you’re grateful for the time you’ve had, but it’s time to create your own message and live your own life,” she told the outlet.
For Brown, the concluding chapter of Stranger Things will be bittersweet and she will cherish wonderful memories from the show but the end of the show was important not just for her but the essence of the story as well. Ending the show on a good note will be revered among fans rather than just prolonging it for the shake of immense popularity, Brown felt it in her heart.
The final season of Stranger Things is expected to hit Netflix in 2025. Damsel will debut on Netflix on 8 March 2024.
