Conor McGregor, the renowned former Ultimate Fighting Championship Featherweight and Lightweight Champion, will soon be finally seen in a prominent role in Jake Gyllenhaal’s much-anticipated film Road House.
But even before the Road House fame could properly hit him, the Irish mixed martial artist had a photo of him finding fame on the internet; a rather unprecedented one that was clicked with the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin.
While the almost half-a-decade-old photo has been making rounds on the internet for some time now, gaining quite a lot of fan attention, very few people know the backstory of the viral image, which is nothing short of utterly hilarious.
Yet what’s even more hilarious than the backstory itself is the fact that people wouldn’t have seen the UFC legend Conor McGregor have so much fear in his eyes before as he did at the time when the photo was being clicked!
The Backstory Behind Conor McGregor and Vladimir Putin’s Viral Image
Renowned UFC fighter Conor McGregor, who is the holder of the nickname ‘Notorious’, once pretty much had his life flash before his eyes; and it wasn’t in the ring, but rather, when he was getting his photo clicked with Vladimir Putin.
It was back in 2018 at the World Cup final in Moscow that the Road House star got to meet the President of Russia. As per the clip shared by TheMacLife on YouTube, the two engaged in a brief conversation before posing for a photo together.
While this photo went viral, little did fans know that when they initially posed, McGregor put his hand on Putin’s shoulder for the photo, only to be told off by one of the President’s bodyguards to remove his hand. This was followed by the UFC legend clasping his hands together in front of him instead.
Yet the hilarious part here was how, despite being the first UFC fighter to hold UFC championships in two weight classes simultaneously, the Notorious one was seen with fear flashing in his eyes as he changed the position of his arm.
You can watch the video here:
But even as he got a warning call from the bodyguard for his stance, presumably for the security of the President, what’s funny is that Conor McGregor proved to be victorious and still ended up getting the photo of him holding Vladimir Putin by the shoulders clicked!
Fans Have Some Brutally Hilarious Reactions to McGregor-Putin Picture
Of course, watching a renowned deadly fighter look like his life flashed before his eyes after getting called off by the President’s bodyguard isn’t something that fans get to see every day.
This is why when they saw it, Conor McGregor‘s fans had some even more hilarious reactions to this behind-the-scenes clip of the photo than the backstory of the photo itself.
Commenting on the clip shared by @fasc1nate on X, here’s how they are reacting to it:

Well, from this, one thing is for sure: Conor McGregor may not be scared of anyone in the ring, but he most certainly is scared of the very person with whom his photo is making rounds on the World Wide Web!
As for Road House: The film will be released on Prime Video by the 8th of March, 2024.
