Putting his adamantium claws back on, fans could not be more excited for his return as Wolverine in Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool & Wolverine. It is something that fans have been begging for since he left the claws behind in 2017’s Logan.
While his return could not come at a better time, with the MCU entering the world of mutants, many fans have wondered how the actor decided to come back. While some believe it to be Reynolds who did the convincing, the truth may be a little further from it.

They talked about how impressive it was that, despite how many years it has been since he played the character and how old he is, he has never looked this good as Wolverine. It would seem that it was the last part of it all that stuck out to Jackman. Commenting on the post, he questioned if Reynolds was telling the world that he was the one who convinced the actor to come back in the film. The reason for such a reaction was that the truth could not be further from it.
How Was Hugh Jackman Actually Convinced?
The true story of what made Hugh Jackman come back as Wolverine was a lot different than many would think. It would seem that the topic of Wolverine coming back was persistently brought up by Ryan Reynolds. During an interview with Variety, Jackman revealed that the Deadpool actor was asked him about coming back “on the daily.”
“I think, actually, he’d given up,” Jackman said. “I think it was a big shock to him. There was a massive pause, and then he said, ‘I can’t believe the timing of this.’”
It would seem that the Logan actor wore down over time and eventually caved in. When he made the call to Reynolds, the actor could not have been happier, quickly setting up a meeting with Kevin Feige, the President of Marvel Studios, and Shawn Levy, the director of Deadpool and Deadpool 2.
“I mean, I never stopped. I was just pestering him like a gnat over the last many years. I actually just think… I believe in timing … and I think he was ready.”
Reynolds told a similar story to Entertainment Weekly, via Deadline, stating that he believes that his constantly bringing the topic up made Jackman more open to coming back. It is safe to say that fans are grateful to both Jackman and Reynolds for bringing them Deadpool & Wolverine.
