The fun doesn’t end there, though, because the Korean studio has confirmed that it will continue to expand the game with two highly requested additions from players. The first is a full-fledged photo mode, so players can…adore protagonist Eve from up close, but the second feature is much more exciting for those who love the game’s combat and bosses.

While details regarding the Boss Rush mode’s mechanics are sparse at the moment, its addition promises an exciting, newfound level of challenge for players who have already mastered the core combat of Stellar Blade.

Players speculate that Boss Rush will allow them to challenge bosses individually, allowing them to perfect their strategies against specific enemies. Alternatively, the mode could take the form of a gauntlet, pitting players against a relentless sequence of bosses with minimal respite.

Both possibilities offer equally distinct advantages. The ability to isolate and conquer individual bosses could be all about proficiency of the gameplay mechanics, while a gauntlet format creates an exhilarating test of player endurance and combat prowess. Shift Up could also offer it both ways.

Shift Up Will Add More To The Game, Including Crossovers

The first paid crossover collaboration for the game will be with Shift Up's own Nikke: Goddess of Victory.

Regardless of the specifics, the Boss Rush mode will no doubt cater to a specific audience: players who relish the challenge and satisfaction of conquering Stellar Blade‘s tough, grotesque enemies. It offers players an opportunity to hone their combat skills in a focused environment and provides a platform for players to showcase their mastery of the game’s combat.

Nevertheless, Shift Up’s active consideration of fan feedback and subsequent implementation will no doubt enhance the Stellar Blade experience further. Along with the previously announced free Photo Mode update, the developers are clearly passionate about incorporating as many requested features as possible.

The game will also receive paid crossover collaborations, and the studio has announced that the first one will be with its own mega-popular mobile and PC game Nikke: Goddess of Victory.

With the impending Boss Rush mode, Stellar Blade will further continue to solidify its position as one of the best action games in recent memory, and potentially draw in more players looking for a Nier-esque combat experience.

The coming months will likely shed more light on the specifics of the Photo Mode and Boss Rush mode updates, with the former set to arrive first.
