The Helldivers 2 community continues the good fight for unfettered liberty throughout the galaxy. The latest Cutting Edge Warbonds content update adds an arsenal of new weapons and, crucially, mechs to aid our brave fighters in eliminating the invasive Terminids and Automatons.
However, a fearful new alien race dubbed the Illuminate, returning from the first Helldivers game, may be on the verge of entering the galactic war and tipping the odds against the freedom fighters. A recent suggestion for an amusing new stratagem may level the playing field against the forthcoming enemies.
Helldivers 2 Fighters Report Blue Beam Annihilation
Helldivers 2 players have been reporting instances of being struck down with strange blue beams raining down on battlefields. These blue beams attack both friend and foe with cold indifference. The leading theory at the moment is that these bizarre attacks tease the return of the Illuminate, a telepathic enemy faction from the first Helldivers game.
The sightings racked up so much attention, Arrowhead CEO and Helldivers 2 creative director Johan Pilestedt came out and denied the existence of the blue beams, saying that they “aren’t real” and “can’t hurt you”. Whether the repudiation is genuine is a matter of debate, but the blue beams are undoubtedly real.
Wave The Flag, Buff The Team
A hilarious reply to Pilestedt’s tweet denying the blue beams proposes the introduction of a new stratagem that allows you to “die with honor”, with several players seconding the notion and some even suggesting ways to better it, as a buff for your team.
Please make Super Earth flag as a stratagem weapon you can carry into battle to die with honor

Buffs party members damage so long as the flag carrier is alive and carrying!

It would be so dope to kill a bile titan with a flag as it gets yeeted towards the surface from space
Have them be "needle pods" since it's just a flag pole, high penetrative capabilities

Basic fire button allows you to wave the flag to increase freedom intensity to allies within range and you can melee with the handle end to avoid spilling alien blood/oil on the glorious flag

Imagine the flag gives you +++ move speed and extra stanima and democracy. It taunts all the enemies to you so you can be running around like crazy luring everything to a trap full of mines and sentries. That would be dope

An almost useless melee weapon that fills you with sweet liberty and buffs your allies somehow 🙏

Running into battle waving the flag of Super Earth, with it potentially even buffing your teammates with sheer sweet liberty, hits the nail point-blank on the head for the co-op shooter.
It’s a bit confusing how the developers at Arrowhead haven’t already come up with the idea, considering the themes of satirical patriotism that Helldivers 2 heavily leans into. Although, with how receptive Arrowhead is of community criticism and suggestions, we could see the Super Earth flag as a stratagem in the near future.
With the terrifying and squid-like Illuminate on the horizon, our valiant Helldivers need all the reinforcements, weaponry, and support they can to keep fighting the good fight and exterminate the galaxy’s invaders, ensuring proper, managed democracy for all.
The ingenuity of the community has to be applauded as well. Since the launch of the co-op shooter in February, players have been actively voicing their troubles, and Arrowhead has been listening just as intently and balancing the game according to the complaints. It’s a wonderful harmony between the community and the studio that we hope never falters.
