The second season of Invincible introduces Angstrom Levy, one of the deadliest foes of the titular hero. Levy’s presence in the story opens the door for Mark Grayson to explore the multiverse, which comes to fruition in the second season finale with a couple of interesting multiversal cameos.
According to lead voice actor Steven Yeun, the multiversal cameos likely won’t end with the second season. In a new interview, Yeun teased that there could be more such cameos after Spider-Man and Batman. Here are the multiversal cameos Yeun wants to see in the future and what he revealed about Invincible season 3.
Steven Yeun Teases More Multiverse Cameos in Invincible Season 3
Actor Steven Yeun voices Mark Grayson / Invincible in the animated adaptation of Robert Kirkman‘s comic book. In the finale, Mark briefly meets a superhero named Agent Spider (voiced by Josh Keaton of The Spectacular Spider-Man), who is a reference to Spider-Man. Similarly, Mark also interacts with a caped hero who is an obvious nod to Batman.
After the conclusion of the second season, Yeun sat down for a conversation with IGN and broke down some of the biggest moments from the finale. In the interview, Yeun expressed excitement at the prospect of exploring other universes and revealed his hopes for future multiversal cameos.
“Man. If they let Invincible just tear through every single comic book, we should just go through all the Image stuff. We should end up in Brubaker Land or something like that. That’d be hilarious.”
Yeun made the above statement, expressing his desire to see Invincible crossover with other comic book universes citing Criminal by Ed Brubaker as an example. Brubaker is known for his gritty and realistic crime comics, which could provide an interesting contrast to Invincible‘s superhero world.
Steven Yeun Reveals What Fans Can Expect From Invincible Season 3
Aside from the multiversal cameos, Yeun also teased fans about Mark’s journey in the third season of the animated series. The second season finale sees Mark’s family getting embroiled in his superhero activities and he also turns down the prospect of romance with Atom Eve.
As a result, Yeun feels Mark will struggle to balance his personal and professional life in season 3. He said:
“I think that will just always be somewhat of a struggle for him. He’s being asked to live two lives, and that’s not easy, especially for a young man. So I think he’s going to get more and more aware of himself over time, and that’s the journey that I think we’re all interested in seeing.”
Yeun added that we could also see more of the family dynamic between Mark, his mother, Debbie, and Mark’s half-brother, Oliver. However, Yeun did not comment on the exact time frame for the production of the show’s third season. Nonetheless, the series has already been renewed for a third season back in April 2021.
Invincible is streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
