Dragon’s Dogma 2 just came out and fans of the genre can’t get enough of how magnificent the game looks and the world full of varied activities. Players have spent hours scouring the map and found no shortage of enemies which is great for those seeking a challenge but has become a nuisance to those who are just trying to get from one town to the next peacefully.

Enemy spawn rates can make or break a game, the pacing for an action-focused game needs to be perfect and balanced otherwise players will feel punished and stressed rather than relaxed. Elden Ring has perfected the pacing by cleverly placing them in specific areas allowing players to have more breathing room. The folks at Capcom should take some advice to improve Dragon’s Dogma 2.

Players have a lot to say about Capcom’s latest game and some of them are well-earned praises, there are some valid criticisms, especially with their ridiculous infinite amount of enemies.

Comparing one game to perhaps the most successful game in recent years in a negative light could be a serious burn towards the developers, but in hindsight, it could redirect their attention and take note of it.

Some fans have claimed that Dragon’s Dogma 2 filled in the void that Elden Ring left due to the impressive combat system and it is a compliment of the highest order, however, the spawn rate of enemies can be annoying.

Even action films like John Wick: Chapter 4 had an incredible runtime and a large portion of the scenes were action-packed yet the filmmakers found the perfect balance between combat and story. Capcom flaunted its impressive AI in Dragon’s Dogma 2 but went overboard with how prevalent they are in a player’s session which can throw them off and make them lose interest. Being unable to acclimate can affect a player’s run and is imperative to give them a little breathing room.

Modern technology has taken quite a leap from how it was in the past, Capcom utilized an impressive and advanced form of it with their latest game and it shows that no one is truly safe. Players can bring their fights in populated areas and the local NPCs are more than willing and capable of defending themselves.

Moments like this can showcase the hardware and heavy-duty programming the developers did with this game and grant players more freedom and agency without their hands being held allowing them to explore and resolve a conflict. However, Dragon’s Dogma 2 still has performance issues and drawbacks even their intelligent AIs can’t help fix, perhaps if Capcom adjusted the spawn rate then the game could run a bit smoother.

Regardless of how players feel about the enemy spawn rate, Dragon’s Dogma 2 is a crowning achievement for Capcom but it could be significantly better if the developers would slightly tweak and adjust the enemy spawn rate, and place them in more varied locations and biomes like Elden Ring.
