The Marvel Cinematic Universe is slowly branching out its entertainment division depending on the medium or type of projects. The studio is making Marvel Television and Marvel Animation a key division for its TV and animation projects as Marvel is aiming to appeal to various sections of audiences.
With the success of What If? and X-Men ’97, Marvel Animation will be back with more exciting projects such as Our Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, Eyes of Wakanda, and Marvel Zombies. A teaser for the latter was recently unveiled at D23 and fans will be thrilled with the return of many characters from 2021’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
Marvel Zombies Will Feature Shang-Chi And His Friends Fighting For Their Life
Marvel Studios had a huge presence at D23 where they revealed various new information about its upcoming projects. As the MCU continues to build up its Multiverse Saga, Kevin Feige has big plans with its upcoming films and TV projects and fans are looking forward to what they have to offer. On the other hand, the studio also has high hopes for its animation division with many projects in development.
X-Men ’97 recently delivered big time with its inventive narrative and audiences are expecting the same quality with their upcoming ventures. After the success of What If? season 2, the studio is attempting another exciting series in the form of Marvel Zombies. At D23, various details about the show have been revealed.
As put by Discussing Films, a teaser for the show was shown at the event featuring various players from 2021’s Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings led by Simu Liu. Characters such as The Mandarin, Katy, Shang Chi, and Jimmy Woo fight a Biker gang in a Mad Max-style scene in the teaser. What If? has already featured various exciting crossovers between various characters that brought out exciting narratives. Marvel Zombies indeed looks like a fascinating project that will definitely bring out amazing possibilities for the MCU’s beloved characters.
Marvel Zombies Will Be An Intense And Bloody TV-MA Show
Audiences were thrilled with the announcement of Marvel Zombies which is expected to be an event series for Disney+. They already got a glimpse of it in the What If? series and the series will be a full-blown exploration of that venture. Marvel’s Head of Animation Brad Winderbaum told IGN that the animated show will be pretty intense with how much they will go with its violence and gore.
Winderbaum further stated that they are aiming for a brutal TV-MA show that will do justice to the source material which did not pull its punches. The Marvel executive said,
In terms of more mature animation, yeah, we’re making a Marvel Zombies show right now that is pretty intense that’s for sure a TV-MA show. And again, it’s trying to honor the comics. And what was so great about the comics was it not pulling its punches. That’s certainly what we’re going for on that project also.
The project was recently promoted at D23 with special footage featuring popular Marvel heroes fighting against zombies. A release date for Marvel Zombies has not been revealed but it will be an event series with four episodes. Fans should wait for official news regarding its release date in the foreseeable future.
