Although the overall Star Wars franchise continues to somewhat thrive thanks to its recent series and TV shows, the theatrical aspect of the saga isn’t exactly on the same page. If anything, fans are pretty much tired of the damage that has been done to the SW franchise, especially to its films. But now that James Mangold is attached to the colossal saga, all of this seems to be about to change.
As fans already know, the renowned mastermind of the action genre is all set to helm one of the upcoming films for the sci-fi franchise, Dawn of the Jedi. But he isn’t the only mastermind connected to the film. Recent reports claim writer Beau Willimon has joined the director for this project, meaning only one thing: Mangold’s film could revive the franchise like fire!
James Mangold’s Dawn of the Jedi Could be a Lifesaver for the Star Wars Saga
The upcoming Lucasfilm feature that has filmmaker Mangold at its helm has recently earned a new addition to the offscreen crew. As per exclusive reports from The Hollywood Reporter, The First playwright cum scriptwriter Beau Willimon has joined the ensemble as one of the writers for the upcoming film.
For all the fans of the sci-fi franchise, this is nothing short of music to the ears because of all the acclaimed work Willimon has presented them with before. The genius scriptwriter previously contributed to three episodes of the masterpiece Andor series, which included the worth-remembering One Way Out episode.
Considering how that one episode even scored Willimon an Emmy nod for outstanding writing for a drama series, it is truly an honor and a gift to have him on board as one of the writers. Then there’s the brilliant director James Mangold himself, who has shared that this upcoming installment helmed by him would be a “biblical epic.”
As shared by THR, the Logan director is cited to have said “while sharing what kind of genre of movie within Star Wars I wanted to do”:
“I thought about a biblical epic, like a Ten Commandments, about the dawning of the Force. Where did the Force come from, when did we discover it, when did we learn how to use it?”
Well, considering all of these updates so far, Dawn of the Jedi sounds like a true piece of work that could turn out to be a lifesaver for the SW franchise and end up reviving it. And guess what? Fans are agreeing with us on this!
Fans Believe Beau Willimon Onboard is a “Big Win” for the Franchise
The films from the mammoth-like franchise as of late pretty much failed to leave the mark that fans had been expecting them to all along. This is evident from all the ratings they have gotten from audiences, which is… well, seriously not looking good.
But with Mangold’s upcoming installment, there is a chance that everything could change; especially if Willimon is attached to it too. This is why fans are excited for this next addition to the SW saga and sincerely hoping that whatever these two geniuses end up cooking turns out to be perfect and worth the wait.

Dawn of the Jedi will be telling the tales from 25,000 years before any of the timelines introduced in the films and shows so far, and will be exploring how the Force truly originated. While it is yet to get a release window, Mangold will reportedly start working on it after he is done wrapping up on A Complete Unknown.
