Anyone But You: This Scene Left Glen Powell In Complete Fright
For the benefit of their roles and the films they appear in, actors frequently push themselves beyond their limits. Glen Powell experienced something terrifying while he was filming his romantic comedy Anyone But You, alongside Sydney Sweeney. There were numerous sultry on-screen undressing scenes in the film, so the two actors needed to have great physical chemistry.
The Set It Up actor came dangerously close to death in a scene that ended up being a farce. At the edge of the “cliff”, Powell had to quickly undress for the scene. But in an attempt to nail the scene, the actor nearly fell off the cliff because he misjudged his precarious position.
Powell explained how he turned a scene with no action into a terrifying experience in an interview with Variety.
“Taking your clothes off on the side of a cliff in a hurry is not safe either. Nobody talks about that safety issue on set, where I almost died falling off a cliff, taking my pants off too fast. But it’s a really fun scene, so it was all worth it.”
Confusion was increased when Sweeney found a spider inside Powell’s pants. The tumultuous and comical sequence in which the Everything Sucks! actor attempted to extract the spider from her co-star’s trousers turned into a memorable moment during filming. Thankfully, Powell and Sweeney were both able to bring the story to a happy conclusion.
Given that both Sweeney and Powell were in relationships during filming and their first press run, their strong chemistry has drawn the attention of many. Despite receiving positive reviews from critics, the film became a sleeper hit at the box office, grossing over $170 million on a $25 million budget, thanks to the actors’ endearing and clever repartee, as revealed in their interviews.
