Blizzard Entertainment’s Overwatch 2 just teased something unexpected for fans. In a surprising turn of events, Season 9 of the game revealed a collaboration with cult-classic anime Cowboy Bebop.
Cowboy Bebop, however, did not have a splendid run as expected when streaming giant Netflix brought a live-action version of the series for fans. And fans have every reason to believe that this is a risky move for Blizzard.
Overwatch 2 Teased Collaboration With Cowboy Bebop
Blizzard Entertainment has teased the surprising crossover with Cowboy Bebop at the ending of a trailer for Overwatch 2’s 9th season. The trailer immediately grabbed the attention of fans when the Cowboy Bebop theme song, Tank! Was played in the jukebox.
Overwatch 2 will feature a new gaming experience for the fans of the game. As per reports, developers have made some remarkable changes to the game’s competitive mode. Alongside the surprising crossover, a new battle pass and a cosmic horror theme for hero skins will be available for the gamers.
Although Blizzard hasn’t officially announced an Overwatch 2 collaboration with Cowboy Bebop with plausible details yet largely because of the huge surprise. But it means several new skins and customization. Spike Spiegel’s skin for the cowboy Cassidy is likely to be in the frontline alongside Faye Valentine’s skin for Tracer. A Genji skin or Edward and Ein skins for Ashe and Bob may also be on the card. Regardless, fans are not entirely up for the surprising crossover.
Fans Responded To Overwatch 2/Cowboy Bebop Crossover
While the trailer for Overwatch 2 Season 9 was surprising with the crossover, it did not go well with many fans. Fans have reacted to the crossover, keeping the bar low. Certainly, the fans believe the live-action Cowboy Bebop has diminished the essence of the original anime and might strike the same way in the game.
Would’ve been cooler if it was in Fortnite.

I hope it's the Netflix version, so at least the two shitshows will mesh into a bigger shitshow. pic.twitter.com/qKCH1PuUQ3

Still, the crossover might just save Overwatch 2 as the trailer has gained wide attention ahead of the release of the game. Overwatch 2 season 9 is set to start from February 13. However, the crossover may not immediately roll out with the first release. It may take a few months as the season is expected to be as lengthy as the previous seasons.
