Ryan Reynolds indeed had an epically failed career in the DC Universe when he agreed to star in 2011’s critically panned Green Lantern, but he has certainly turned the tables all the way around after his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Deadpool.
Not only has his fan-favorite character’s film saga of the same name brought something entirely different than previous projects from the MCU, but now, it has ostensibly broken some records for the franchise as well.
As fans already know, the trailer for Deadpool 3, which was seemingly renamed to Deadpool & Wolverine as per its trailer, was dropped recently at the Super Bowl LVIII, and fans have been absolutely over the moon about it all ever since.
Thus, with the trailer perfectly fitting their expectations, fans have not only made the third installment of the Ryan Reynolds-starrer saga one of the most anticipated films from the MCU of all time but have even watched the trailer so many times that it has set a whole new record for Marvel!
Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool & Wolverine Sets A Whole New Record For Marvel!
After much speculation and buzzing about whether it’s true or not, Marvel Studios finally dropped the trailer for the massively anticipated Deadpool 3 or Deadpool & Wolverine at the recently held Super Bowl LVIII, and the reactions to it have been nothing short of absolutely ecstatic.
While fans were thrilled about it before, the perfectly crafted trailer has taken their excitement to whole new heights, and just like that, fans have set a whole new record with just the trailer of the upcoming film as it becomes the ‘Most-Viewed Movie Trailer’ in 24 hours of its release.
According to the statistics shared by The Hollywood Reporter, the Ryan Reynolds-starrer third installment has managed to garner a whopping 365 million views within the first 24 hours since its release, becoming “the most watched movie trailer in history,” as per Marvel and Disney.
Reportedly, this aggregation of views has been calculated by counting not only the views on the official trailer on YouTube but also the views of all the people who were airing the broadcast of the Super Bowl, the number of which stood at an all-time high of 123 million viewers.
Moreover, this title was gained by the third film of the Deadpool saga by dethroning Tom Holland‘s third installment of his blockbuster Spider-Man saga from 2021, Spider-Man: No Way Home, which reportedly launched at 355 million views in August 2021.
So far, considering how the events are going and all the hype and millions of questions that Deadpool & Wolverine has further ignited in fans’ minds, it seems that Ryan Reynolds just might crush Holland at the box office too through his soon-to-be-released presumed blockbuster!
How Did No Way Home Perform At The Box Office?
The Tom Holland starrer from 2021, which marked the third installment of his Spider-Man trilogy, Spider-Man: No Way Home, was reportedly made on a production budget of $200 million, as per The Numbers.
However, its box office went waaay past that number. As reported by Box Office Mojo, the 2021 masterpiece brought in a whopping $1.9 billion for the MCU from the box offices worldwide, with $814 million being domestic and $1.1 billion being international grossing.
Notably, it even went on to become the seventh highest-grossing film of all time in its total revenue, as per what @screentime reported on X.
Yet, judging from how Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool 3 is performing even without its theatrical release, with the mere release of its trailer dethroning Spider-Man: No Way Home for the number one position, it seems it won’t be long before the movie crushes No Way Home at the box offices too.
But to land the final verdict on that even before the film’s release would be a bit too soon. Thus, we’ll wait until Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman finally hit the theatres through Deadpool & Wolverine later this year.
In the meantime, you can watch the official trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine here:
The much-anticipated Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman starrer will be hitting the theatres on the 26th of July, 2024.
