At the recently held 96th Academy Awards, the fan-favorite 22-year-old singer cum songwriter stood for something many other celebs preferred to ignore: Gaza, and the ceasefire in the city amid Israel’s constant attacks on the Palestinians throughout the constantly raging war.
For the record, Eilish proudly wore a red badge on her chest while walking the red carpet at the Oscars 2024. This badge is the “Artists for Ceasefire” (also Artists4Ceasefire) pin, which urges the immediate ceasefire in the city of Gaza amid the war that is pretty much a “genocidal campaign,” according to multiple U.N. experts (via Time).
For those who may not know, Artists4Ceasefire is a “group of artists and advocates who have come together in response to the humanitarian crisis unfolding in Israel and Palestine,” according to what the organization’s website Artists4Ceasefire states.
Moreover, these artists reportedly stand with lending “our voices and our platforms to amplify the global call for an immediate and permanent ceasefire, the safe return of all hostages, and the immediate delivery of humanitarian aid to the civilians in Gaza.”
According to the numbers reported by Al Jazeera, almost 31,000 Palestinians have lost their lives because of Israel’s constant bombings and shootings, along with nearly 73,000 others who were injured during the same in Gaza since the attacks started on the 7th of October, 2023.
Since this number is truly too heartbreaking to even imagine, an immediate call for a ceasefire was more than just necessary. This is why not only Eilish but multiple other renowned celebrities were seen wearing the same badge at the procession as well.
However, while Eilish was one to stand up for this cause with such honor and pride without caring about the backlash, the recently made billionaire Taylor Swift doesn’t seem to belong to the same category as no words or actions were received from her on this brutal issue, like many other celebs.
Because of all of these reasons, and Swift never openly supporting Palestine and the humanitarian cause associated with it, Billie Eilish has inevitably stepped up on a pedestal that gets her further higher up Swift than her two well-deserved Academy Awards did.

For what it’s worth, Billie Eilish has only further increased her popularity by openly supporting Gaza and calling for a ceasefire. That being said, perhaps Taylor Swift could take a page out of her book and stop being so afraid of reaching higher? After all, the sky’s the limit for all of them!
