Canadian actress Iman Vellani has truly transformed into a superheroine in real life as multiple Marvel fans hail her as the perfect real-life version of one of their utmost favorite characters, Ms. Marvel. Yet, as much as they love her in the role, rumors had been circling that there might be little to no future for her character in the MCU after the disaster that was The Marvels.
However, being the always-excited and super-friendly personality that she is, Iman Vellani has stepped forward to debunk all these rumors about the future of Ms. Marvel in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And while she herself doesn’t know much about this future, Vellani is still holding tight onto the “assurance” that has been bestowed upon her for her respective character!
Iman Vellani is “Assured” Ms. Marvel Has a Future in the MCU
Brie Larson‘s The Marvels co-star, Iman Vellani, has once again jumped in to save the day. Although she doesn’t have any solid and confirmed reports, her mere assurance and confidence in her character’s future are enough to relieve many fans of their concerns over Ms. Marvel.
During a recent interview with Polygon before the Anime Awards 2024, the 21-year-old actress echoed the same when asked about insights into Kamala Khan’s future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She said:
“I have been assured,” Vellani replied, and continued, with good humor, “So that feels good, but there was no more assurance than that. [laugh] They give me breadcrumbs, and I try and make a meal out of it.”
When the Ms. Marvel series landed on Disney+ back in 2022, there was a considerable amount of the Marvel fandom that was busy hating on it. However, at the same time, there was also an equitable amount of fans who were cheering for Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan.
Later on, it was these very fans who were concerned about both Vellani and her respective character’s future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe when Brie Larson’s recent The Marvels failure led to many assuming that Ms. Marvel season 2 would be slashed as well.
But thanks to Iman Vellani’s recent teasing, now all the fans know that Ms. Marvel isn’t the superheroine from the MCU who would just disappear from her beloved fans’ eyes!
Meanwhile, Ms. Marvel is Gearing up for an Animated Appearance
While Ms. Marvel’s future in the live-action universe of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has only been “assured” for now, her future in Marvel’s animation world seems more likely. This comes after Iman Vellani herself confirmed having recorded lines for her character for the Marvel Zombies miniseries.
Talking with The Direct about this very upcoming animated Disney+ spinoff series of the What If… Zombies!? episode that would conclude its first season with only four episodes, Vellani said:
“We’ve done the whole thing. It was amazing. It was so much fun. And I love—there are a lot of cool characters in the ‘Marvel Zombies’ show. And Kamala is kind of the center of the show. They described it to me, it’s like, ‘She’s basically the Frodo of the story.’ And I was like, ‘That’s amazing.’”
Thus, for all the fans from the Marvel Cinematic Universe fandom: Iman Vellani would most certainly be returning as Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel, even if it’s for an animated Disney+ series!
