Among these, you’ll find the EMF Experiments in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Solve a series of experiments, earn rewards, and help the Emily-May Foundation in its endeavor to heal the world.

Our guide will direct you to the locations of all nine EMF Experiments and walk you through the puzzles, so you can beat each one of them with ease. Once you’ve completed them all, you’ll be rewarded with the Foundational trophy and heaps of XP, Tech Parts, and Rare Tech Parts. 

And to give you a heads-up: the ninth experiment won’t spawn until you’ve completed the story.

What Are EMF Experiments in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2?

The first batch of EMF Experiments will be unlocked after visiting the Emily-May Foundation in the Healing The World Main Mission. You’ll complete the first experiment as part of the story, after which several more EMF Experiments will spawn on the map. 

There are nine EMF Experiments in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 in total, however, not all of them will unlock at the same time. As some of these experiments follow a narrative, more will appear across the city as you complete them. Playing as Peter Parker, you can beat them at any point in the story, except for the last one, which will only spawn once you’ve finished the game.

To support the scientists at the Emily-May Foundation in their research, Peter is asked to conduct various scientific studies by completing puzzles and mini-games. All the EMF Experiments in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will start with you interacting with a workbench and following the instructions from the video message. 

With this handy guide, we’ll walk you through all the experiments. We have included the solutions to the puzzles below, but don’t worry if you’re not interested in solving them. You can simply pause the game and select “Skip Puzzle” to skip over this section of the EMF Experiments entirely. This doesn’t have any negative consequences, you will still get all the rewards and the final trophy regardless. 

Once you have reached the end of the story and completed all nine EMF Experiments in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, you will unlock the Life Story suit for Peter and earn the Foundational trophy to get you one step closer to that sought-after Platinum.

Plant Science EMF Experiments

Little Tokyo: Plant Science

One of the EMF Experiments in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is located in Chinatown.

You’ll find one of the EMF Experiments in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on a rooftop in the northwest of Chinatown.

Chinatown’s EMF Experiments in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2: Little Tokyo Plant Science

To help improve the produce for F.E.A.S.T., you will have to pick up three different crop specimens growing on the sides of the building. Hit R3 to illuminate the vines, which will lead you to each of them.

One is located on the outside of the fence on the west side of the building, one on the east-facing wall, and one on the outside of the wall to the south.

After you’ve solved the puzzle, you’ll need to activate the water sprinklers. For this, head to the water tank in the corner and use L1+R1 to open the valve. You’ll notice leaks in the pipes, which you’ll have to patch up using your webs. Aim with L2 and shoot with R1.

Two of the leaks are obstructed by objects, use L1+R1 to pull them aside before webbing up the leak behind it. The quest markers will guide you to each of the leaks. After patching them all up, the sprinklers will start watering the plants and you will have completed the experiment.

Portside: Plant Science

One of the EMF Experiments in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is located in Hell's Kitchen.

Head to the northwestern corner of Hell’s Kitchen to find the next Plant Science EMF Experiments in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

Interact with the workbench to get started. For this one, you will help the EMF create stronger plants. Take samples of the puddle of water to the left of the kiosk by pressing Triangle.

Analyze the water and eliminate the corrupted atoms.

Destroy the corrupted atoms to complete Hell's Kitchen's EMF Experiments in Marvel's Spider-Man 2.

Afterward, you’ll head to the port in the southwest. While standing on one of the wooden poles, you’ll need to catch a fish to get a sample. You can press R3 to illuminate nearby fish. When one is in sight, press L1+R1 to grab it with your webs. You may have to do this a couple of times until you get the fish Peter needs.

Once you get the sample, head back to the kiosk. After solving the puzzle, you’ll have completed the experiment.

Two Bridges: Plant Science

One of the EMF Experiments in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is located in the Financial District.

An additional experiment will spawn in the Financial District after you’ve completed the first Plant Science EMF Experiments in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. It is located in the center of the district, towards its eastern border.

The Financial District's EMF Experiments in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2: Two Bridges: Plant Science

For this experiment, you’ll help the EMF make their cassava plants grow faster. Thankfully, a professor at ESU has a new variety of the plant you can splice it with. The mission marker will show you the way to this rare plant variety.

Once you’ve arrived at the location, enter the greenhouse on the rooftop. You will notice that the plant has been stolen.

Enter the greenhouse as a next step for the Financial District's EMF Experiments in Marvel's Spider-Man 2.

Peter can track the plant’s pollen to find where it’s been taken. You’ll see yellow pollen above a nearby rooftop. Follow the trail until you find the cassava abductors.

Take out the enemies on the rooftop and grab the plant. Take it back to the kiosk, the mission marker will show you the way. Once there, you’ll start solving the puzzle, but the villains will interrupt you.

Knock them out and solve the puzzle to complete the experiment.

Energy EMF Experiments

Central Park: Energy

One of the EMF Experiments in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is located in Harlem.

You’ll find the first of the Energy EMF Experiments in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on a rooftop by the northwestern corner of Central Park.

Interact with the terminal to start the experiment. You will be instructed to rent a bicycle and ride through 10 checkpoints in Central Park.

Take one of the bikes to your right and start riding along the path. The mission marker will show you the way. Ride through the blue light to tick off each of the checkpoints.

About halfway through the experiment, your bicycle will start acting up, and you’ll have to get through all the checkpoints within a limited time. Press X repeatedly to gain speed.

After checkpoint 9, you can use R2 to give your bike a speed boost. At some point, you will need to cross an underpass. Aim to your left towards a ramp, and press R2 for a boost to jump over it. Return the bike to its charging station before the time runs out to complete the first of the Energy EMF Experiments in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

Brooklyn Heights: Energy

One of the EMF Experiments in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is located in Downtown Brooklyn.

Head across the bridge to Downtown Brooklyn to find the second one of the Energy EMF Experiments in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. It’s located on a rooftop right next to the bridge.

For this experiment, you’ll deploy multiple turbines from a certain altitude. The mission marker will lead you to a suitable Wind Tunnel and updraft that should get you high enough with your Web Wings. Once you’ve reached the required altitude, you can deploy the turbines by pressing Square.

If you’re having trouble getting high enough using the Wind Tunnels, get onto one of the higher rooftops with an updraft. Stand on top of the air vent and press R2+X to launch yourself into the air. Open your Web Wings and you should be able to reach the required height effortlessly.

After you’ve deployed all five turbines, you’ll get an alarm that one of them has been compromised. Follow the mission marker to find out that the drone has been attacked by Kraven’s hunters. Defeat the enemies, then use L1+R1 to hurl the turbine back into the air. This will complete all Energy EMF Experiments in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

Bee Drone EMF Experiments

Central Park: Bee Drones

One of the EMF Experiments in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is located in Central Park.

One of the Bee Drone EMF Experiments in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is located in the southern half of the Upper West Side, right on the border of Central Park.

For this experiment, you’ll fly a drone shaped like a bee through Central Park. First, you need to shoot the purple holograms shaped like rats and bee wolves. Use R1 or Square to shoot 12 targets before the drone’s battery depletes. You can ascend with R2 or X and descend with L2 or O.

After successfully eliminating the bee predators, you will teach the drone to identify and mark optimal bee nest sites. Fly through seven yellow bee holograms before your drone’s battery runs out.

Queens Apiary: Bee Drones

One of the EMF Experiments in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is located in Little Odessa.

The second one of the Bee Drone EMF Experiments in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is located in the southeast of Little Odessa.

With the bee drone, shoot the purple hologram targets by pressing R1 or Square. At some point, a real bird will enter the scene. Switch your drone to Sonic Mode and shoot the bird with the Sonic Laser to shoo it away.

Follow the bird and shoot it whenever it sits down to shoo it back home. At the playground, it will start flying in circles. Shoot it in midair for it to fly home. It will then fly into a cage on a rooftop. Shoot the wooden plank to close the door.

Prospect Park: Bee Drone

You'll find one more of the EMF Experiments in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 in Downtown Brooklyn.

After you’ve completed the first two Bee Drone EMF Experiments in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, one more experiment will spawn in Downtown Brooklyn. Head to the center of the district.

Downtown Brooklyn's EMF Experiments in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2: Prospect Park: Bee Drone

You will start the experiment by shooting some more holographic bee wolves and rats with the bee drone. After successfully destroying five targets, fly through the yellow bee holograms. At some point, you will get interrupted by someone stealing the drone. You’ll hear the villains say they’ll take it “back to the garage.

Head to the drone’s last known location to figure out which garage the abductors might have taken it. Check nearby rooftops and use the antenna (using Triangle) to connect with the drone. Once located, you can fly the bee drone inside the garage.

Using the Sonic Laser, shoot the bee cages on the shelves to release the bees. Pressing R3 will illuminate the cages you’ll need to aim at.

This will cause the villains to run outside, where Spider-Man will be waiting for them. Beat them up to complete the experiment and wrap up the Bee Drone EMF Experiments in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

For the last one of the EMF Experiments in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 to spawn, you will need to finish the entire story and roll credits on the game. So, only keep scrolling if you have finished the game.

The Final EMF Experiment Spawns After the End of the Story

Emily-May Foundation

After you've completed the story and all EMF Experiments in Marvel's Spider-Man 2, a ninth experiment will spawn in Astoria.

A new EMF quest will spawn in Peter’s house in Astoria after you’ve completed the game’s story. MJ will give you a call to let you know that a package has been left for you. Head to Peter’s house.

Walk into the garage, and you’ll see a package on the table to your left. Interact with it by pressing Triangle to find it entails a thumb drive. Plug it into the workbench to your right to see a video message Harry left for Peter. You’ll need to solve a rather tricky hexagon-shaped puzzle.

There are a few different ways to solve it. This is one of the possible solutions. You can also just skip the puzzle entirely from the pause menu if you like.
